Something about Christmas just makes you want to get all crafty and make stuff! I think holiday decorating gets our creative wheels spinning and it’s too fun not to stop! Last year I was on Pinterest on the hunt for a fun DIY ornament and fell in love with this one! I decided to try making one and had sooo much fun! I hope you give it a try because you won’t regret it! I was inspired by these darling ones made by Michele from The Scrap Shoppe.
1. Clear Plastic Ornaments - Open in the Front
2. Craft Paint - I Used Craft Smart Paint in Pastel Light Pink
3. Small Christmas Trees - I used Tiny Treasures Mini Glitter Christmas Tree
4. Tiny Treasures White Snow Confetti
5. Mod Podge
6. Tiny Treasures Mini Snow Balls
7. Paint brush
9. Roller brush
Paint your ornament and snowballs. Each ornament will likely need 2-4 coats of paint and the snowballs will only need 1-2 coats. If you’re impatient, like me, blow dry your ornament in between coats to decrease drying time! If you want to add texture to the paint, then grab your roller brush and dap your ornament with a little paint. You’ll start to see it have some great texture.
Use tacky glue or a glue gun to glue the snowballs onto the Christmas tree.
Paint the inside of the ornament where the tree will be glued down. Apply some tacky glue or use your glue gun to glue down your tree.
Paint Mod Podge all around the base of the Christmas tree; paint it everywhere you want the snow to be. Then, while it's still wet, sprinkle in the fake snow. Add some Mod Podge to the snowballs too for a really snowy effect.
Grab a dowel or pencil eraser, dip the end into the Mod Podge and create a design or polka dots onto the outside of the ornament. While the Mod Podge is still wet sprinkle on the fake snow!
AND you're done!! If you love this Christmas ornament DIY, then I hope you'll try it out too! Let me know in the comments below how much fun you had making one too! If you're on Instagram, please do tag me, so I can share your ornament with our community :)
If you love it, then PIN this image and save it for later!
