How to Make Matcha Ice Cream in the Ninja CREAMi

Step 1: Prepare the Matcha

Add the matcha powder to a small sifter and sift it into a mixing bowl to remove any clumps.

Add the warm water and whisk until a smooth matcha paste forms.

Step 2: Mix the Ice Cream Base

Pour in the whole milk and blend using a handheld frother.

Add the heavy cream and blend again.

Add the sugar and continue mixing until dissolved.

Pour in the vanilla extract and mix.

Add the salt and give everything one final blend until smooth and fully combined.

Step 3: Freeze

Pour the mixture into your Ninja CREAMi pint container.

Secure the lid and place it in the freezer for 12–24 hours, or until completely frozen.

Step 4: Process in the Ninja CREAMi

Insert the frozen pint into your Ninja CREAMi and run it on theIce Cream setting.

After the first cycle, check the texture. It will likely look crumbly or powdery.

Place it back into the machine and run aRe-Spin cycle.

When finished, the ice cream should be smooth, creamy, and scoopable.

Step 5: Serve

Smooth out the top and scoop into a bowl.

Top with whipped cream, sprinkles, and a fresh strawberry for an extra special treat.

Tips for the Best Matcha Ice Cream

  • Sifting the matcha helps prevent clumps and creates a smoother texture.
  • Use high-quality ceremonial or premium culinary matchafor the best flavor.
  • If your ice cream is still crumbly after the first spin, run another Re-Spin cycle.
  • Freeze the mixture on a flat surface so it freezes evenly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of matcha should I use?

For the best flavor, use ceremonial-grade matcha or a high-quality culinary matcha. Lower-quality matcha can taste bitter.

Why is my Ninja CREAMi ice cream crumbly?

This is completely normal. Most cream-based recipes benefit from one Re-Spin cycle after the initial processing.

Can I make this recipe sweeter?

Yes! Add an extra tablespoon or two of sugar if you prefer a sweeter ice cream.
